Better late than never, right?
We started off our San Antonio trip by grabbing breakfast at Twin Sisters.
To be honest I had a lot of trouble finding restaurants for us to eat at in San Antonio. We are definitely spoiled in Philly. I had eaten at Twin Sisters a few times in college (yea I went to college in SA for a bit), and it seemed like an alright option.
I built my own taco for breakfast and it was pretty good.
Eric, unfortunately, ordered the tofu scramble and was not a fan.
After breakfast we headed to the expo. On our walk back to the hotel we spotted this! A miniature Liberty Bell! It made us feel at home.
After a few hours it was time for lunch. I had checked out some places on HappyCow and came across The Cove. The restaurant seemed to have options for everyone, but I wasn’t really expecting much.
Um let me just say I was BLOWN away by this restaurant. It’s a restaurant, car wash and laundromat, and has been on Diners Drive-Ins and Dives!
We started with some chips and salsa.
And two of my favorite beverages that I can’t find in Philly, Topo Chico and Sessions!
My friend Simon joined us as well. I kind of talked Simon into signing up for the half marathon and he rocked it on Sunday!
Ok so the atmosphere and company where awesome, but how was the food? AMAZING. Eric ordered the vegan bacon cheeseburger. In Texas. And it was one of the best things I have ever tasted. Seriously. If you are vegan, and anywhere near San Antonio, get to The Cove right now and order this.
We parted ways and Eric and I spent the rest of Saturday hanging out.
We spent Sunday morning running the half marathon, then headed to Austin!
Most of my friends live in Austin so a large group of us got together for dinner.
We ate at Snack Bar, which was ok. Not bad but not great.
Eric ordered the BBQ sliders.
We ended our mini Texas tour on Monday with lunch at Matt’s El Rancho.
There were numerous orders of Matt’s Jr. Potatoes.
