Photos From The Weekend

We had a really, really good weekend. It was a good weekend filled with some wildness and some calmness.

Friday night Eric surprised me by making us dinner reservations at Fare. Fare opened a few months ago and I had been really wanting to try it.

I started off dinner with a beer from Cigar City brewery. I have never had anything by them, but this was really good!

The restaurant encourages you to share plates, so Eric and I started with the pink peppercorn raw cashew cheese with sunflower sprout salad. Yay for cashew cheese at restaurants!! The cashew cheese was amazing! Definitely worth visiting just for this.

We split the spicy barbecued seitan on polenta with broccoli rabe. This was really good too.

Fare was really delicious, I just wish they had 1 or 2 more vegan dishes. Everything was prepared really well so I would love to be able to have more options there.

We didn’t have any plans for the rest of the night so we decided to go to Standard Tap for a drink. I don’t know why we think it will be a drink, because we ended up staying there till closing and had a full on 90s rap dance party at the bar. I guess that’s what happens when you have friends who are bartenders. Needless to say, it was a really fun night and I had a blast.

Eric and I were slow movers Saturday morning, but finally got out act together and met some friends at Sabrina’s for lunch. I thought it was awesome that their brunch specials were Harry Potter themed!

Eric even ordered the Voldemort’s Vegan Horcrux Burrito.

We took it easy and didn’t do anything the rest of the day. Sunday morning we had a 5:45am wake up call so Eric could do another bike race. This one was about an hour outside of Philly.

He didn’t do as well as last week, but still had a great race!

His team had a really strong presence at the race so we took a couple of team photos afterwards.

After the race we all headed to SuTao Cafe for the all vegan Chinese buffet. Our friends go often, but we had never been and were really excited to try it. The buffet had a ton of options and everything we ate was really good. Eric ended up eating 4 full plates of food, but I only got shots of 2.

We are heading out of town next weekend so we ran a few errands to stock up on goods. Obviously this was our first priority.

All of that looks awesome! One weekend I’m going to come to Philly and do an eating tour based on your blog. Except all the CSA parts.
