Woo! I had a super awesome fantastic birthday (besides having to work). Eric and I had early dinner reservations at Vedge. We have been wanting to eat there since it opened but hadn’t gotten the chance to yet.
Vedge is the new-ish restaurant from the former owners of Horizons. It’s a little bit different than Horizons, focusing on small plates and more vegetable based, but it’s still really classy upscale vegan food.
And we feasted. We started with an order of Mixed Pickles. I really thought this dish was going to be pickles but it was actually pickled vegetables. They were good, but I was still disappointed that there weren’t any pickles!
Next up I ordered the Brussels Sprouts and Collard Greens off of the Dirt List, the vegetable based portion of the menu. The brussel sprouts were amazing and I could have easily eaten numerous plates.
Eric ordered off the Plates menu and got gold beets and smoked tofu. I tried a bite of the tofu and it was really good.
Next up we both ordered off the Plates menu. I had the Braciole, which was smoked eggplant and cauliflower with salsa verde. I really, really enjoyed this.
And Eric’s dish had fresh hearts of palm in a garbanzo crepe. I didn’t get a chance to try it, but he liked it.
We were kind of split on our thoughts. I enjoyed Vedge a lot more than Horizons, but Eric thought Horizons was better. He was a little disappointed in the portion sizes too, even though he knew they were all small plates.
After dinner we went to Standard Tap to meet up with some friends, and because we don’t go there often enough already.
Our friends surprised me by writing my name on the menu board, hahah.
And they got me a card and signed it with all of their Instagram names.
Thanks for the fun night friends!
