The Weekend

Eric was out of town this weekend. He was off doing some insane 400 mile bike race. He did really well and said he should have a recap finished in a few days, so I will make sure to post that.

Usually when Eric leaves town I tend to hole up inside and spend most of my weekend like this. The cat in lap is mandatory.
But I made a big effort to get out and actually spent most of the weekend busy!

First up, Saturday afternoon I met some friends for a bike ride. I’m still making an effort to ride my bike more and so far so good.
Our friend Ed always shows up in the best outfits. I loved his bomber jacket he wore.
We rode up and down MLK drive a few times and covered about 25 miles. Thanks dudes for letting me crash your ride.

Then Sunday I met some friends at the newly opened HipCityVeg (menu here!). Fresh, tasty, vegan fast food, in center city Philadelphia. I don’t think life gets better (or easier) than that!

I got the Mediterranean Salad, side of sweet potato fries, and a green lemonade. My friends each got a burger, I didn’t get a picture but the burgers are HUGE. Eric hasn’t been yet so I bet we will be back soon.

I got home later in the day just as Eric was getting back in town. We spent the rest of the night on the couch while I listened to his war stories from the bike race.

  1. I feel like all I do is whine about how Philly is turning into such a cool city. I love that there are so many more vegetarian/vegan friendly places.

It’s getting crazy how vegan friendly Philly is! There are a couple of new spots I haven’t even had a chance to check out.

  2. Fun weekend!! I wish I had more time to spend with cats in my lap, and I’m sure my cats do too. I rarely ever sit down, but when I do, the cats and my pit bull all pile into my lap, so thankful for a rare chance to cuddle. That salad looks delicious!!

Cool, I will have to check that out.
Random (and sometimes wordpress doesn’t even send comments so no idea if you will even see this) but you are running Dirty German, right? I just signed up yesterday!

I am! SO excited- I ran it for the first time last year and it was by far the most fun I’ve ever had running. I’m definitely a trail girl. It’s a relatively small group of runners, so I’m sure I’ll see you there :)

DC has a lot going for it, but I’m not sure it can even compare to all the terrific food options in Philly.
