The Pop Shop + Limestone Cross at the Kiln

Two random, but awesome, things happened this past weekend.

First up, Eric and I had to run an errand in New Jersey and to make it “worth it” we decided to have a late lunch/early dinner at The Pop Shop. We have been meaning to eat here for…ohh 3 years, but just never got around to it.

We were surprised at how crowded it was for 3:30 in the afternoon but we were seated shortly. The menu is pretty large with some vegan and vegetarian things throughout. Then there is a special section with more vegan/vegetarian items.

I already knew I was ordering the pancakes and they did not disappoint. They were huge and tasted awesome. I could only finish half of the order before I gave the plate to Eric to take over.

Eric went a different route and ordered the Chipotle Veggie Melt.

Everything was awesome. Just be prepared to me surrounded by kids.

Then on Sunday we had the last official race of the cyclocross season! We woke up to rain and it continued to rain on our drive up to Emmaus. Not really ideal weather, but kind of class cx race weather.

I’ve been trying to ride my bike since the marathon, but haven’t put in as much time as I would like. I was worried about racing but just decided to take it slow so as to not fall and break my bike anymore.

My race went great! It was raining pretty hard at the start but lightened up after the first lap. It was super slick and muddy so I just took my time. I ended up riding most of the race with these 2 junior boys.

I ended up NOT falling, even when trying to avoid other people who were falling, and I didn’t break my bike, and I came in 12th which was great for me.

A couple of other women from my team raced too.

But the biggest highlight of my race was while passing the women’s 70+ World/National Champion she yelled “you go girlfriend” to me. Later on I saw her waking her cat on a leash at the race. I have a new role model.

After getting changed and warmed up I got ready to spectate Eric’s race. His race was pretty stacked with some fast guys and I think he was worried he wouldn’t do that well. He ended up 7th which was his best place for the MAC series this year.

It was great to end the official season on a high note, and I am glad I was able to do another race. We have some ‘underground’ races coming up this weekend which should be a lot of fun.
